Yuri Naumov at GW
The first time I heard Yuri Naumov was in 1990. It was in my hometown, Chelyabinsk, Russia. I was amazed by his virtuosity. The songs also were very good. A couple of months later, after I listened to a couple of his records, I decided for myself that Yuri Naumov is one of the best guitar players, and I want to learn to play guitar like he does (which has never happened, even though I managed to learn about ten of his songs).
After I came to America, in 1996, I met my favorite musician in New York (where he lives now). We decided that I would try to organize a concert for him at my university (The George Washington University). Thus, in September of 1997, with a great help of Mrs. Ana Aldama, and with support of the student organization Russian Bazaar, I managed to introduce Yuri to the GWU, where he performed in the Marvin Center Betts Theater. After that, Yuri have played at the GWU two more times, in February of 1998 and September of 1998. I hope, we will be able to organize another concert some time in the near future.
