Max Sokolov's Music

From time to time I and Tania play open mics.  Here is incomplete list of most interesting performances:

In spring through fall of 2009, I played guitar in a cover band Nuclear Boots.  We played songs by The Cars, most of which we learned during Steve Levitt's Floating Rock Ensemble class at OTSFM in Jan-Feb 2009, and some other songs from the 80's.

I enjoy taking ensemble classes at Old Town School of Folk Music (OTSFM).  Some of the classes that I took (since 2007):  Acoustic Zeppelin, Grateful Dead (Ace), ZZ Top, Beatles (White Album 2, Please, Please Me), Floating Rock, The Cars, Derek and the Dominos (Layla), Eric Clapton (Unplugged), Radiohead.

In 2008 I had a pleasure of playing each-other songs with Alex Kozhevnikov.  He helped me to get started with home recording, and he helped with second guitar and back vocals on this home recorded demo version of my song Poslednii Solnechnyi Den (The Last Summer Day)

In 1993-96 in Chelyabinsk, Russia, I was singing and playing guitar in a band Pustye Hlopoty (Useless Troubles).  We played mostly my originals and a lot of our best performances happened at the Chelyabinsk State University's rock club Minautavr.  On average, we were performing once a month -that was a very fun time!  We made some very poor quality home recordings and I hope to be able to re-record them one day.

One of my greatest influences in music is Yuri Naumov.  In 1997, I had an honor to meet him in person and organized a series of his concerts at GWU.
